| After college graduation, David spent seven years as a US Naval officer and fighter pilot. Aboard his aircraft carrier when not flying, David stood as Officer of the deck watches on the bridge and developed an enduring love of the sea.
In 1973 while still in the Navy, David purchased his first boat, a 46 foot Ed Monk designed motorsailer. Since then, he has owned, operated and occasionally lived aboard a steady stream of boats in the Chesapeake Bay, Florida Keys, Bahamas and the Caribbean. David holds a US Coast Guard Masters license to 100 tons and is a certified Rescue scuba diver. David recently retired from a 30 year career as an international airline captain with over 20,000 hours flying transatlantic and Caribbean routes. David has used his accumulated knowledge and experience to make Elixir safe, reliable and comfortable with redundant systems worthy of a jumbo jet! |
Janet grew up near the water in San Diego and fell in love with the ocean at an early age. Janet was a child prodigy ballet student dancing on scholarships and later danced with several ballet companies from Los Angeles to Milwaukee to Japan. It was during these years that she daydreamed of life on the water. When Janet's dance career ended, she became a flight attendant and began her dream by buying her first boat and getting her scuba diving certification. Janet now holds a U.S. Coast Guard 100 ton Masters license and an advanced open water diver certification with several hundred dives after many years on the water. Janet's professional experience in the service industry, her attention to detail and her gourmet meals are guaranteed to please the most demanding guest aboard Elixir. |
